Nature
The Costa Dorada has areas of incredible natural beauty, from the Ebro Delta Natural Park (don't miss its sunsets!) and the Puertos de Tortosa-Besseit National Reserve in the south to the Montañas de Prades in the west. With no plant or animal life, the Sierra de Montsant provide a contrast to these landscapes, but it does offer a majestic and rocky landscape full of hidden corners and picturesque chapels which transport us to a past when the mountain was a refuge for bandits and people in search of peace and tranquillity. We recommend visiting the village of Scala Dei, which was built around an old Carthusian monastery, and Siurana, which is situated on top of a hill and is famous for its delicious oil which has a Designation of Origin.
The coast also offers great contrasts, but all with one thing in common: the light. There are villages which have grown up offering a wide range of services and resources for every type of tourist, and where, years ago, there were fishing villages there are now real "Meccas" for tourists such as Salou or Miami Beach. On the other hand, there are small seaside towns, like Garraf, where fishing is still the main way of life and that are being developed in an organised and responsible manner. These a lasting towns that show us the traditions of the fishing villages as they were in centuries gone by.
